Officers asked to remove encroachments

JAMMU, May 13: Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor JMC conducted inspection of Trikuta Shopping Complex here today.
During inspection many problems being faced by members of the market came into the notice of Deputy Mayor. The Market Association presented their charter of demands and requested her to redress the problems faced by the business fraternity. The Deputy Mayor assured them that their genuine demands and problems will be redressed at the earliest and the directions in this regard were issued to the concerned officers on the spot. They demanded improvement of sanitation in the complex. Deputy Mayor directed the Health Officer to provide immediate sanitation staff in Trikuta Shopping Complex.
They demanded more dustbins be installed there to prevent throwing of garbage on the roads or on lanes and drains.
Proper lightening system be provided, street lights and high mast lights be installed there on immediate basis. There are so many damaged street lights that are not being taken care of. It was requested to provide proper street light facility.
They said that there is dire need of passenger sheds on the sides of the B.C. road as many passengers and students wait there for the buses.
There is no parking due to illegal encroachments.  Large shopping containers were also found lying in the parking space of the complex on the road causing parking problem. They demanded proper parking facility and removal of illegal containers at Trikuta Shopping Complex.
Further they demanded encroachment by shopkeepers be removed as it is creating nuisance. Deputy Mayor on spot directed the concerned to take stern action against the illegal encroachers.
They also demanded repairing of damaged footpaths.
The Deputy Mayor assured the representatives of associations that their all problems will be sorted out in the shortest possible period.
She further issued instructions to the concerned officers to complete desilting of drains and nallahs to prevent choking of drains and fencing to be provided at the boundaries of nallah.
Deputy Mayor requested the locals to not park their vehicles on “No Parking Zone” which causes a lot of nuisance. She directed the concerned officers to remove the illegal hoardings and make a proposal for the construction of public toilets at the park near B.C. road for the welfare of the general public.

Amit Gupta, Councilor, W NO 9, Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer, JMC along with prominent members of the market associations were also present.
