Deputy Chairman LC visits villages on LoC, listens public grievances

POONCH, Sept 7: Expressing concerns over mortar shelling on civilian targets in Sawjian sector, Deputy Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir has appealed for immediate end to repeated ceasefire violations on the LoC.
To redress the grievances of people living along the LoC at their doorsteps, the Deputy Chairman visited village Jhullas here.
He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr Basharat Hussain, Tehsildar Headquarters, Jahangir Khan besides officers of PHE, PDD, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, CA&PD, Health and Education Departments, Sarpanchs, Panchs and public of adjoining villages.
Deputy Chairman encouraged the villagers to ventilate their grievances. Issues pertaining to safe drinking water, up-gradation of High School Jhullas to Higher Secondary level, establishment of Animal Husbandry Dispensary, construction of already sanctioned PHC under NHM, road links in the villages, rectification in recently prepared list of rationees, ration distribution as per 2011 census, checking discrepancies in electricity bills, completion of RDD shopping complex, irrigation canal for paddy fields at Jhullas etc. were vociferously raised.
Mir assured the villagers that the issues raised will be addressed on priority. He informed them that the up-gradation of High Schools has already been discussed in the District development Board meeting and the matter is being pursued by the administration. Besides, the Deputy Chairman passed on necessary directions to the concerned departments for early redressal of issues raised by the villagers.
He urged the farmers to adopt latest technology in agriculture and horticulture sectors to improve productivity and stressed upon the agriculturists to make agriculture a remunerative activity by turning to cash crop and switching to crop rotation adding that it will reduce soil erosion and increase soil fertility and crop yield.
Deputy Chairman asked the officers to pay frequent visits to rural and far flung areas in the district and generate awareness among the people regarding various schemes of the Government.
