Deputation of retired SRTC employees calls on Speaker

JAMMU, Jan 23: A deputation of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) Non Pensionable Retired Employees Union called on Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul here today and apprised him about their demands, including release of pending arrears.
The deputation led by Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat and Fayaz Ahmad Misger submitted a charter of demands to the Speaker seeking   release of arrears from January, 1999, including  229 slabs of COLA and benefits of 6th Pay Commission.
The deputationists informed the Speaker that 1053 employees of SRTC have retired from the service of the Corporation after rendering decades of service but were not provided pension benefits.
They said that many employees have also not been paid the due COLA instalments and arrears on account of 6th Pay Commission, that amount to Rs 26.72 crore.
Mr. Mubarak Gul said that the Government was committed   to sympathetically consider all genuine issues of Public Sector Undertaking employees.  He listed the schemes introduced to revive the PSUs and benefit the employees, including Voluntary retirement Scheme in JKSRTC.
The Speaker assured the deputation that their genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned authorities sympathetically.
