JAMMU, July 28: Raising question on the timing of conducting surveys by the Income Tax Department, Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) Jammu pointed out that the IT authorities are initiating such activities at the time when the State is disturbed and business has been collapsed.
In a meeting of the CCI held here today under the chairmanship of  its president Rakesh Gupta, the members expressed their concern and alleged that the  Income Tax department is conducting surveys at a time when the State was totally disturbed, resulting in total collapse of business. Moreover the last date for the IDS was September 30.
On this occasion, the members were made aware and cautioned that if anybody  is served with any notice or called by the Income Tax department, he should ensure compliance as more surveys may be done if it is a matter of non-compliance.
Chamber president  also extended gratitude to the  Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and the  Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu for extending the date for filling of VAT returns and also to deposit the VAT tax by one month till August 30, 2016.
