Deplorable State of Education in Kargil

Sir,
Universally, education is thought to be an antidote to rid a society of all its ills.  Unfortunately, today education sector is the most ailing sector itself in J&K. Here in Kargil, one could see, the well-off families send their children to prestigious colleges and universities outside the district and state. The remaining few, who cannot afford the economic burden, remain at the Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil.
Sadly, the GDC Kargil is functioning without basic and proper facilities and infrastructure. There is lack of proper sanitation and drinking water: the basic rights and necessity of life. This makes one wonder how more than 2000 odd students (most of them girls) manage their natural needs as well as studies. The college canteen which should have been a hub of discussing ideas and knowledge is offering nothing nutritious but only paltry things: a cup of tea will burn a hole in your pocket. The land demarcation is very ambiguous and suspicious. The official record says that the GDCK has 82 Kanal land, however it possess only 16-19 Kanal of land at present. Annoyingly, the college is without a playground and  hostels for far-off students. The college lacks a proper reading room where the students can sit and study during free hours. There is also lack of regular teaching staff while many of the posts are lying vacant.
The college is working in absence of a full-fledged  principal from past four years(Dec. 2011) , though JK Government order no. 233-HE of 2015,Dated: 05.08.2015 states Mr Chandra Shekhar (Incharge Principal) Government Degree College Gool, is transferred and posted as Incharge Principal, Government Degree College against available vacant post, similarly in Order no. LAHDC-K/CEC-Tour/2015/05, Dated: 20.07.2015 promises construction  of 06 numbers of washrooms and making them functional of all the existing latrines,  land demarcation and proper fencing of the college campus, shifting of the solar panels from the campus ground  and employing educated local youths on contractual basis, a medical aid center and a library. Every promise seems to be a candy for a crying child without any concrete actions. Similar kinds of irregularities and loopholes are found at most of the higher secondary schools in the district.
Yours etc….
