SRINAGAR: Under its initiative “Art for All”, J&K Government’s Department of Culture is organizing musical evenings at Iqbal Park Srinagar tomorrow and at Badam Vaer, Srinagar on Sunday to celebrate the legacy of Kashmir’s legendary poets Rasul Mir and Ahad Zargar.
The Department of Culture, under the leadership of Dr Haseeb Drabu, has ventured on a unique and novel initiative to revive, restore and promote J&K’s aesthetic and treasured heritage and make art and culture part of daily lives.
The first programme of the series was organized at Badam Vaer, Srinagar on 17 May to celebrate the legacy of Shair-e-Kashmir, Ghulam Ahmad Mehjoor.
“We want to revive the treasured legacy of our legendary poets and artists by bringing art in public places,” Dr Drabu said adding it is being done in a unique way to bring out the richness of J&K’s culture through theme based programs by dedicating evenings to legendary poets, musical instruments, poetic genres etc.
Dr Drabu said such programmes would be also conducted at Zabarwan Park, Nehru Park,Sunday Market, Lal Chowk and other such public places. “The idea is to make art and culture part of our daily lives so much so that it subtly blends into our daily chores and adds substance and cheer to our lives,” he added.
