BHADERWAH, Feb 8: Forest Department seized deodar logs and illicit timber, while the green gold smugglers damaged a vehicle, in which the forest sleuths had came.
According to the official spokesman, during the intervening night of February 7 and 8, a team of Central Forest Control Room, Bhaderwah Forest Division alongwith FPF J-8 Doda headed by Incharge Central FCR Bhaderwah Mohammad Haroon Khan under the direction of DFO Bhaderwah Vivek Sharma conducted raid in Compartment 57/Neru and seized 3 Deodar logs and 21.57 cft illicit timber.
During the raid, the green gold smugglers damaged the private vehicle bearing registration number JK02A-8866, in which the forest sleuths had came at village Chakka. The matter has been reported to Bhaderwah police station.
Meanwhile, forest officials held protest after they came to know about the incident. NGFO Unit Bhaderwah condemned the coward act of the timber smugglers and demanded strong action against the culprits involved in the incident.
When contacted DFO Bhaderwah Vivek Verma said that strict action will be taken against the culprits and matter has been already brought to the notice of higher authority for appropriate action.
