DODA, Nov 6: To assess the overall security scenario for smooth conduct of the ensuing Assembly elections in Doda district, a meeting of the officers of District Police, Army, CRPF, SSB and Territorial Army was today convened by District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) S V Meena.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on area domination, patrolling, laying of nakas, deployment of flying squads among others. DEO impressed upon the officers to implement the action plan strictly in coordination with district administration for the security of candidates and polling booths.
He said that from the security point of view the polling stations have been categorised as critical and normal and necessary arrangements for polling booths should be put in place keeping in view the sensitiveness of the area. Besides maintaining law and order during the election campaigning, security of the candidates should be focussed on priority so that people could participate freely in democratic process, he added.
He stressed for better coordination among the forces to ensure free and fair elections. He said that joint meetings of all the forces should be conducted frequently at different levels and they should share their inputs so that timely action is taken to deal any situations.
During the meeting, DEO sought reports from the officers about security scenario in their respective areas. He further discussed deployment plan and logistic arrangements for the security forces being deployed for election duty. He said that besides Jammu and Kashmir Police other para-military forces will be arriving for the elections and efficient arrangements for their mobility and accommodation have been chalked out to ensure peaceful elections.
SSP Doda M S Chouhan apprised the meeting about the steps taken for deployment of personnel in different constituencies. He also briefed the meeting about the movement of forces from one constituency to other for their deployment. Besides deployment of Sector and Zonal Officers was also discussed in the meeting.
Earlier, DEO briefed the officers about the various teams, committees, cells and squads established for free and fair conduct of elections in a power point presentation.
Commanding Officer 10 RR, Commanding Officer 4 RR Bhaderwah, Commanding Officer JK IRP Doda, Commanding Officer CRPF 76 BN Doda, Commanding Officer SSB Khellani Doda, Commanding Officer 159 TA and Commanding Officer 26 RR were present in the meeting.
