SRINAGAR, Dec 2: District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, today convened a meeting regarding special summary of electoral rolls.
An official spokesman said the meeting was attended by Deputy District Election Officer, AEROs, EROs and various BLOs of the district. “The meeting was told that Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled the special summary revision of electoral rolls with January 01, 2017 as qualifying date,” he said.
The spokesman said various issues like implementation of the schedule, issuance of notice, receipt of claims/objections, addition/deletion of contents of EPICs, weekly progress report, preparation of checklist along with the format for roll observer and engagement of staff with the revision were threadbare discussed during the meeting.
The DEO stressed on implementation of the guidelines of ECI in letter and spirit. He urged that 100% enrollment of the voters of the district should be ensured so that every eligible voter can exercise his democratic right. He also said that all the persons of the district attaining the age of 18 as on January 01, 2017 are eligible for inclusion as a voter in the electoral rolls.
