KATHUA, Nov 15: To well verse the Micro Observers about their duties and responsibilities during the ensuing Assembly elections, District Election Office convened a meeting cum training of Micro Observers here today.
The meeting was chaired by District Election Officer Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal. Nodal Officer Training and Management Amarjeet Singh, (GM DIC Kathua) was also present on the ocassion.
While addressing the trainees, District Election Officer threw light on the importance of role to be played by the Micro-Observers during the elections and important aspects of the duties to be performed by the Micro-Observers. He impressed upon them to go through the handbook of Presiding Officer and report violation or malpractice if any in the polling booths.
While interacting with the Micro-Observers, District Election Officer said, they will have to directly report to the General Observer designated by the Election Commission of India. He added that violation of the guidelines laid down by Election Commission of India would invite action. He said that each Micro-Observer will be assigned one/two polling stations to check the polling process going on there.
He also highlighted the immense responsibilities of the Micro-Observers and urged them to carry out their duties meticulously to ensure a successful poll.
During the training about 120 trainees were detailed about the handling and operation of EVM’s.
