JAMMU, July 21: The female dental surgeons under the banner of Dental Surgeons Association (DSA) continued their chain hunger strike for the ninth consecutive day, whereas the dharna by the association entered 21st day here today.
The unemployed dental surgeons assembled at Ambphalla Chowk and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Continuing the chain hunger strike, Dr Vandana Manhas was sitting on fast to carry forward the movement of the association.
Addressing the protestors, chairman of the association Dr Pawan Singh Jasrotia condemned the policies run by Omar Abdullah led Government saying that inspite of increasing the upper age limit for retirement and increasing eligibility age relaxation to apply in Government jobs, CM would have proposed better policies to address the problems of unemployment in the State.
He appealed to the people and other social and political organizations to come forward and support the cause of the dental surgeons on humanitarian ground.
He demanded complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis and establishment of separate directorate for dental health in the State.
Dr Jasrotia informed that their protest will continue till their demands are not redressed.
Meanwhile, members of various associations also assembled at Ambphalla and extended their support to the agitating dental surgeons.
