NEW DELHI, Dec 23:
Dense fog and poor visibility across northern states continued to hamper train movement today, with Railways cancelling sought-after trains like the Poorva Express to Howrah and the Mahabodhi Express to Gaya.
As many as 44 trains from here had to be rescheduled owing to inordinate delay in their arrival.
In all, 66 trains arrived several hours behind schedule with some running late by as much as 20 hours.
The cancelled trains included the Toofan Express to Howrah, Ferozpur intercity Express, Kafiyat Express to Azamgarh and Rajyta Rani Express between Lucknow and Meerut, said a Northern Railway spokesperson.
The late running trains also included the Rajdhani Express from places such as Dibrugarh, Bhubaneswar and Patna, with the latter arriving here 11 hours late.
“We have made arrangements for informing passengers about the train position on regular basis besides setting up helplines for public,” said the official.
Train drivers have been instructed to drive at a slow speed during the foggy condition. (AGENCIES)
