JAMMU: An eight-year-old boy died of not getting timely medicare as his father alleged that he failed to get the high value currency notes exchanged in a bank at Samba district, following which his unwell son could not be transported to the hospital.

According to Haroon Ahmed, father of a minor, who died because of failure of family to reach the hospital for timely treatment due to non-availability of new currency notes, he lifted the boy on his back, but he died on the way.

However, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president G A Mir, flanked by senior leadership this morning, visited the residence of Haroon Ahmed at village Chadaawa in Mansar tehsil of Samba to condole the death of his son.

”Haroon Ahmed as per reports could not arrange transport even after walking a long distance carrying his son to the road side,” he said, adding that because of non-availability of new currency notes, he was not provided lift by the transporter to reach hospital in time, as he refused to accept the old note of Rs 500 as fare.

After coming to know of this heartrending incident, the PCC chief said he, along with other senior leaders, visited his residence and condoled the death and enquired about the incident. Leaders expressed shock over the incident and criticized the Modi Govt for thumping his chest for taking decision of demonetisation.

They said the decision was taken without proper preparedness, as a result many precious lives have been lost for want of new currency notes. Mr Mir questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi as to how he can compensate Haroon Ahmed who has lost his son due to sudden decision of demonetisation without any adequate arrangement as a result Haroon Ahmed could not arrange transport for providing timely medical help to his ailing son.

”Modi Government is insensitive to the problems and needs of common people who suffered irreparable loss due to its policy,” said the Congress stalwart.
