Democracy triumphs as people reject poll boycotters: Raina

BJP for implementation of 73rd & 74th amendments

JAMMU, Oct 17: Strongly favouring implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments of Indian Constitution in the State, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today appealed the State Governor that after the successful conduct of Panchayat elections in the State the said amendments be implements in the State to strengthen the Panchayati Raj.
The demand was made at a press conference by the State party president, Ravinder Raina. He said for strengthening of Panchayati Raj, the implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments is must to strengthen the democratic institutions in the State so that the benefit of democracy reaches to last man in the last queue as was dreamt by former president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a great leader Pt Deendayal Upadayay.

Complementing the people for smooth and successful conduct of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections in the State which concluded yesterday, BJP State president said people of the State chose and preferred grass root level democracy while widely rejecting the poll boycott and threat calls given by anti-nationals. Former Dy. CM, Kavinder Gupta, former Minister, Sham Choudhary, State general secretary, Yudhvir Sethi and district general secretary, Vinay Gupta were also in the press conference.
Raina, said that despite the poll boycott calls by Kashmir based political parties, frequent threats by the terrorists and the “Bandh” calls given by separatists, there was massive turnout in the ULB elections, thus giving a befitting reply to all those who wanted to sabotage the democratic process. This indicated that the people prefer development, peace and prosperity, he added.
Raina complimented Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, Governor, Chief Electoral Officer, Election Commission of India, Security agencies, J&K Police, CRPF, CISF, SSB, Indian Army, BSF and all other agencies for smooth conduct of elections. He appreciated the role of administration, who worked with full transparency and impartiality.
While stressing that the ULB elections after a gap of 13 years served as great satisfaction and pleasure for the public, Raina said that this will work as foundation to meet the aspirations of common masses. BJP volunteers and candidates took challenge and frustrated the designs of poll boycotters, he added.
Raina also declared that BJP is fully prepared for the Panchayat elections. He said that although the Panchayat elections will be fought on non-party basis but the party will fully contribute in the process. BJP supported candidates will secure good results in Panchayat elections as well along with ULB elections and will contribute in development of the State.
