JAMMU, Jan 8: Continuing their strike for the 1061st consecutive day, Contractual Lecturers (10+2) today held a strong protest demonstration near the Press Club Jammu in support of the demand for their regularization.
Amidst raising of slogans and carrying banners in support of their demand, the protesting Contractual Lecturers also tried to take out a march towards the civil Secretariat but their attempt was foiled by the cops on duty, who did not allow them to move further.
The protest demonstration under the banner of All J&K Contractual Lecturers (10+2) Forum, was also addressed by Pankaj Sharma, president of the Forum, who accused the Government of un-necessarily delaying action on their demand, which has already been examined by the committee constituted by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu in April 2017 and found genuine.
“Our details have already been collected by the DDSEJ/DSEK and submitted to the Administrative Department. We had series of meeting with the administration regarding the issue but nothing has been done till date,” he explained.
Pankaj Sharma appealed the Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu and Advisor to LG, K K Sharma to personally intervene into the matter and resolve this long pending demand so that the aggrieved contractual Lecturers may not suffer any more.
Others who addressed the gathering, included Jeevan Kumar, Abhimanyu Sharma, Guftar Choudhary, Amrit Palo, Lovely Kumar, Mohd Ilyas and Raman Khajuria.
Pertinent to mention here that these Contractual Lecturers have been protesting for the last 1061 days for regularization of their services.
