Delimitation should be based on fresh census: SSP

JAMMU, Feb 25: Sainik Samaj Party (SSP) J&K today stressed upon the Government to do delimitation exercise on the basis of fresh census.
“Basing the delimitation on fresh census is imperative, as census of 2011 was highly fudged, manipulated and misleading, and was done with Kashmiri politicians to have a permanent edge on formulation of Government,” said Colonel Pathania, president of the party.
Pathania said that the distribution of 46 seats to Kashmir and 37 to Jammu, and distinct advantage of 6 districts out of 10 in Jammu region, having Muslim majority, will always ensure, that Government will always formed by Kashmir politicians. This anomaly can only be corrected by an unbiased, fair and fresh census based on census of 2021, he asserted.
Pointing towards Government’s announcement, made at the time of re-organization of JKUT, regarding capping of Assembly seats to seven by delimitation commission, Pathania said restricting the domain of delimitation commission, with terms of reference, imposed, will adversely affect the scope and fairness of the report of commission.
