JAMMU, Feb 12: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil today said that Delhi Assembly election results must be an eye opener for all those forces who propagate and preach divisive politics and are bent upon enforcing another partition of India purely on religious lines.
Addressing Congress Seva Dal workers at Gandhinagar here today Mr Vakil said that these results are also a referendum against corrupt elements that directly or indirectly loot poor and devise policies meant to make the rich much richer. He said whosoever, encourages corruption and favoritism will have to face Delhi like consequences.
The Congress leader lauded the determination of Governor for negating and eradicating corruption in the J&K State. He said such type of measures which were only initiated by Ghulam Nabi Azad and should have been carried forward by his successor but unfortunately same were never unleashed afterwards. Mr Vakil termed the actions of the Governor as a great step towards right direction and highly acknowledgeable. He said that Governor has shown his commitment to provide a corruption free Administration to the people of the State.
Mr Vakil said that corruption undoubtedly flourishes from top level and anti- graft bodies like State Vigilance Commission, State Accountability Commission and State Information Commission were constituted for curbing corruption and cleaning the system from unscrupulous elements. He said despite huge investment in these anti- graft Commissions, desired results have not been achieved so far. He urged the Governor to strengthen these institutions and ensure disposal of all pending cases in a time bound manner.
