Delhi polls: BJP likely to announce candidates in 2-3 days

NEW DELHI : The BJP is likely to announce its candidates for the February 7 Delhi Assembly polls in the next two-three days.
BJP sources today said the deliberations on probable candidates were going on within the party’s Delhi unit leadership.
They said a panel of candidates for each Assembly constituency would be finalised soon and will be sent to the central leadership for a final call.
BJP Central Election Committee was likely to meet on January 18 to decide the candidates, the sources said. The BJP has not announced any candidate yet for the 70-member Assembly.
While the AAP has declared candidates on all the seats, the Congress has announced candidates on 64 seats. However, the Congress has not named its candidate from the New Delhi seat where Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal will contest from.
He had defeated three-time chief minister and sitting MLA Sheila Dikshit in the last Assembly polls held in 2013. Kiran Bedi, a social activist and close aide of veteran anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare, joined the BJP yesterday. After her move to join the BJP, there are speculations that the former IPS officer might contest against Mr Kejriwal. Both Ms Bedi and the AAP leader were members of core team of Hazare during the latter’s movement for Jan Lokpal. Mr Kejriwal and Hazare had parted ways on the former’s decision to launch a political outfit.
