Delegation of Chhamb displaced persons meets Ajatshatru

JAMMU, June 8: A delegation of Chhamb Displaced Persons’ Association-1971 met former Cabinet Minister and Member Legislative Council, Ajatshatru Singh here today to garner his support on the long pending demands of the Association.
Singh was apprised of various issues concerning Chhamb displaced persons of 1965 and 1971 and a formal memorandum of pending demands was presented to him. The delegation led by the president of the Association, SR Nagial discussed various demands in length and requested  Ajatshatru Singh to represent their case in the Upper House of the Assembly as well as with the central leadership of BJP.
The Association has been demanding proper settlement package from the Central Government that includes cash compensation, plots, job/admission reservation for their wards in various State and Central Government institutions, special recruitment drive for the displaced candidates, Community Hall, compensation for land acquired by forces, and one time ex-gratia payment to all the displaced families.
Singh gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them of full support by highlighting their demands at appropriate level in the State as well as at the Centre. He reiterated his commitment to stand by all the displaced people in the State and hoped that present dispensation under the leadership of Narendra Modi would certainly address all such issues keeping in view the aspirations of all the displaced communities.
