JAMMU, Nov 30:  Non-official members of the Governing Body of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society have expressed strong resentment over the delay being caused in the renovation/ restoration of the historic Mubarak Mandi Heritage site of Jammu.
In an urgently convened meeting of the non-offical members of the Governing Body of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society, the members expressed their strong resentment and anguish about the manner in which the renovation/restoration of the Mubarak Mandi Heritage buildings is being handled and treated by the Government.
The members noted that all rules and regulations of the Society are being flouted for the last about three years with the result, the restoration work is moving at a snail’s pace  and without caring for the reuse plan of the buildings, the major portions of this historic complex are falling apart and moreover, the functioning of Heritage Society has been rendered defunct. The members felt that the Administration is callous towards the issue of restoring this symbol of Dogra culture.
The members urged upon the chairperson of  the Governing Body of the society (the Chief Minister) to urgently call a meeting of the non-official members of the Society to discuss the present deplorable state of affairs of this complex.
The members felt that the chairperson should address the concerns of the non-official members, who are the real stakeholders of this heritage complex. The members also resolved that under no circumstances, they will allow this heritage complex to be destroyed. They added, in case they do not get an audience with the Chairperson (CM), they will pursue other agitational methods to get the restoration work on rails.
Non-official members of the Governing Body who participated in the meeting include, Th Gulchain Singh Charak- former chairperson of the Executive Committee, Maj Gen GS Jamwal, Prof Lalit Magotra, Narinder Singh Jamwal- Ex Mayor, Prof  Veena Gupta,  AV Gupta- senior advocate,  Zaffar Khan, Prof Zahur-ud-Din,  Mul Raj Abrol  and  Prof Asha Sharma.
