KISHTWAR, Jan 25: The residents of tehsil Warwan today held a protest demonstration at District Headquarter here and closed the main national highway for hours in front of old DC office.
The protesters were alleging that District Administration and Government failed to timely airlift the seriously ailing pregnant lady of Warwan to District Hospital Kishtwar as a result of which she died.
As per reports, the relatives of pregnant lady namely Naseema Begum (30), wife of Shahnawaz Ahmed of Inshen Warwan after seeing the critical condition of the lady approached District Admini-stration for airlifting her through routine heli service of Pawan Hans.
“Though helicopter was available but administration gave priority to airlifting SDM Marwah and others to Nawapachi and the critical lady was left waiting at Warwan. The lady was airlifted in the second flight but by the time she could reach Kishtwar her condition deteriorated and she died on the way to DH Kishtwar”, the relatives added.
They also alleged that due to non-availability of doctors in far flung areas is leading to human loss.
The protesters were demanding enquiry in the whole matter.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Angrez Singh Rana reached the spot and pacified the protesters.
Later, the protesters dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the national highway.
