UDHAMPUR, July 18: Secretary Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella today inaugurated the commencement of formal class work at Govt Degree College Neeli Nallah and GDC Chenani.
Speaking on the occasions of inaugurating GDC Neeli Nallah, Mr Rohella promised that the college premises would be fully developed and made operational in the new building within coming years. He interacted with the students regarding their views on opening of the college in their area. He also interacted with the local people of the adjoining areas and emphasised on the education of the skill enhancement courses in the College.
The Secretary appreciated Nodal Officer of GDC Neeli Nallah, Dr N K Resutra for exhibiting extra ordinary performance besides the faculty members of GDC (Boys), Udhampur who had contributed day and night towards the opening up of the College and making it operational.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion, included Prof R K Ganjoo (Director Colleges Development Council, Jammu University), Prof S P Saraswat (Nodal Principal Jammu), Prof Subash Sharma (Principal, GCW, Udhampur) and Dr Bhavnaish Chand (officiating Principal GDC Udhampur).
Meanwhile, Government Degree College Chenani was also inaugurated by Talat Parvez Rohella, in the presence of Prof R K Ganjoo, Dr Udhey Bhanu (Incharge Principal, Govt Degree College Chenani), Dr Bhavnaish Chand, SDM Chenani, Abdul Sattar and others.
The college will be temporarily run from newly constructed Girl’s Hostel Building.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rohella said that he had personal ties with Chenani, and it was a very joyous occasion for him that Degree College Chenani was being inaugurated. He said that he hoped to see Degree College Chenani develop as a premier institution of Higher Education in the State, and for that purpose, he suggested Dr Udhey Bhanu, Incharge Principal GDC Chenani, to initiate the process of starting Skill and Vocational Based courses for the students, in order to make them employable and contributing members of society, and Remedial and Correctional classes for students to make them academically at par with students from rest of the State.
Addressing concerns of the locals, Mr Rohella said that Science subjects would be started in the college very soon, and the prospect of introduction of PG Subjects would be looked into.
