Defence forces celebrate Independence Day with patriotic fervour

JAMMU, Aug 16: Defence forces celebrated 68th Independence Day with great patriotic fervor, zeal and zest at different locations.
Rashtriya Rifles Battalions under Romeo Force celebrated the Day with the school children of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch. The event started with the flag hoisting ceremony at a number of locations simultaneously at Keri, Khankhari, Chamba, Ratti Mitti, Dungi Manayalan, Rajdhani, Dhangri, Palma, Thanamandi and Surankote.  On the occasion children performed various cultural activities on the theme of National Integration at various locations.
The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion located at Bhadarwah under Delta Force organised a variety of events to mark the grand occasion. The first in the series of events was wreath laying ceremony at the Battalion War Memorial and hosting of National Flag at Battalion Headquarters by the Commanding Officer in presence of Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Jawans.
A number of events like painting competition, inter school cultural programmes and sketching competitions were organized at various locations of Doda district for the children and the winners were awarded.
68th Independence Day was celebrated in Frontier Headquarters, BSF Jammu with lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Many functions and events were organized on this auspicious occasion. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, IG BSF, hoisted the National Flag at BSF Stadium, Paloura in the presence of officers and Jawans. He conveyed his warm wishes to all the Seema Praharis serving in trying conditions of the international border and line of control.
In the premises of BSF School Paloura the children presented a thrilling and colorful cultural programme in the memories of the martyrs. While addressing the school children, IG BSF wished bright future of the children and the country. In the series of events, IG BSF also visited BSF Hospital and distributed fruit and gifts to the patients.
38th Battalion CRPF celebrated 68th Independence Day with great patriotic fervor. On this occasion, senior officer, Somnath Maharna (2 I/c) and JP Sharma, Deputy Commandant visited far flung post of the Unit and wished all the best to jawans, school children and villagers.
