JAMMU, Dec 18: Acting on the complaints of coal transporters plying in the State for supply of coal to brick kilns, the Department of Legal Metrology conducted checking of weighbridge at Purkho and found the complaint genuine.
According to the truck drivers , there was discrepancy in weighment at the said weighbridge to the tune of 250 kgs in 9 tonnes. The supplier got the weighment done at Lakhanpur and were having proper weighment slip from the Toll Plaza Lakhanpur. At the receiving end when they got the re-weighment done the said weighbridge was showing less weight as a result drivers were suffering losses for short supplies.
The team of Inspectors comprising Pooja Kumari & Rohit Gupta checked the accuracy of the weighbridge with standardize labs equipment fitted with mobile weighbridge testing kit & found the weighbridge showing erratic weighments with linearity defects as the weighment reached beyond the level of 4 tonnes. The working of the instrument was immediately stopped & indicator seized to verify the reasons for such erratic readings in weighment.
