JAMMU, July 8: Alleging corruption in approving construction plans and permission for the same, Citizens Forum has pleaded for non-application for FAR as per the master plan in case of old structures in the old cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
A handout stated that R.K Chadha of Citizens Forum wrote to the Governor, Satya Pal Malik and Mayor JMC that adhering to the FAR in cases of houses constructed in the past in old cities of Jammu and Srinagar on 2 to 3 marlas of lands by the economically weaker families will lead to hardships for them.
Chadha said that there is a cumbersome system to obtain No Objection Certificates required to get municipal plan approved from Municipalities.
“This cumbersome process leads to arduous journey to different departments loaded with objection for one or other requirement,” he further said.
The Forum demanded that old city of Jammu be declared as Heritage City like Amritsar City and be developed as per norms and specifications of old heritage cities.
