JAMMU, May 6: Describing the recent ‘Swach Surveshan-2017’ survey, which declared Jammu City as the dirtiest in the State of J&K and at 251st rank in the country, as an eye opener for the BJP Ministers, NPP chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh lamented that the city of temples had been converted by the saffron flavoured Govt into a pit of garbage.
Shocked over the sensational disclosure made by the Union H&UD Minister Venkaiah Naidu who announced the results of the aforesaid survey on May 4 at New Delhi, Singh said that it had exposed the State BJP leadership once again for its treacherous character. He said that while all other cities of the state including Srinagar, Leh, Anantnag, etc. were ranked higher in the said survey list, Jammu city despite the tall claims of the State Housing Minister besides other saffron leaders was declared tail-ender in the state.
Complimenting Indore city of Madhya Pradesh for getting 1st rank in the country in Clean Indian Mission, Harsh Dev Singh said that the Jammu leadership was required to come out of the delusions of power and take a cue from their Indore counterparts. He said that majority of BJP MLAs, MLCs and Ministers belonging to Jammu, they were accountable and answerable to the people for the poor results which could adversely affect the prospects of the city for declaration as smart city.
He said that having failed on almost all significant parameters determining the eligibility of a city for its declaration as Smart city, and which included progress under Swach Bharat Mission, track record of implementing reforms, e-newsletter, timely payments of salary to municipal staff, execution of master plans, disaster risk management, improved revenues through tax collection and user charges, Singh maintained that Jammu city had virtually lost all chances for the said Smart Status.
With Jammu city already losing its grandeur and magnificence due to its persistent neglect, the BJP Ministers had further earned it the most dubious distinction of being the dirtiest city in the state, deplored the NPP leader.
Holding the H&UD Minister of J&K who is also the Dy CM responsible for the poorest performance of Jammu city, Singh said that Dr Nirmal Singh had lost the moral authority to continue and needed to resign.
