JAMMU, Aug 19: Vishwa Ayurved Parishad J&K and Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research jointly organized a Declamation Contest on the topic ‘Vatkala Kaleey Adhyaya’ of Charak Samhita on the eve of Charak Jayanti Celebration.
Dr. Sujata Sattu, Medical Superintendent of Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital , Jammu was the chief guest whereas Dr. Govind Ram Gupta, President VAP presided over the function and Principal JIAR, Dr. V. K. Mohanta was the guest of honour.
The function started with the lightning of Jyot and garlanding of the portrait of Maharishi Charak. In his address principal JIAR made the audience aware of the importance of Naag Panchmi and its spiritual aspects in details. Dr. Jatinder Gupta, Member Central Working Commitee apprised about the organisational activities of VAP.
Nine Students of Final Year and PG scholar participated in the contest.
Dr. Govind Ram Gupta, President VAP in his Presidential address said that J&K Govt. has miserably failed to promote the programmes under AYUSH in the past despite of repeated representations from time to time.
Dr. Shabeer Mattoo, Dr. Shreshta Gupta and Dr. Atal Bihari were the Judges for the contest.
Dr. Sujata Satoo also spoke on the occasion.
The dignitaries distributed the trophies, certificates and consolation prizes among the participants.
Ridham, Mahvish Sharma and Diksha bagged first, second and third position respectively. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr. Virender Gupta (Ex-Deputy Director ISM) and Dr. Anil Gupta (A-Grade Specialist). Dr. Ram Prabhu conducted the proceedings of the function, while Dr. Sudesh Gupta (HoD, Shalya) presented the vote of thanks.
