JAMMU, Dec 10: Reacting to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council’s decision asking former Army Chief, General VK Singh to appear before it in person, BJP National Executive Member & J&K Chief Spokesperson, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the decision is politically motivated and is nothing but a part of the National Conference (NC)-Congress coalition’s Kashmir-centric politics aimed at appeasing separatist constituency on the eve of election.
Dr Jitendra Singh asked, if the J&K Government was genuinely sincere about going into the facts of the matter why did it not, at the first place, institute an inquiry against those of its leaders or members in the State Council of Ministers who had been named by Gen. V.K.Singh. Not having done that and instead calling for Gen Singh’s personal appearance, amounts to seeking political mileage at the cost of the morale of the Indian security forces which we shall never approve of, he said.
There are several unanswered questions which the Congress led UPA Government at the Center owes to answer, said Dr Jitendra Singh. How,for example, important Defence documents got selectively leaked to a section of press and whether this mysterious leakage was in any way related to Gen Singh sharing platform with Narendra Modi at a public rally, he asked.
Dr Jitendra Singh sought to remind the ruling party of the State that, to a large extent, they owe their sustenance in the seat of power to the enormous service and sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces.
Cautioning the State Chief Minister not to tweet or judge in haste, Dr Jitendra Singh said the CM may soon come to regret the decision to summon Gen V.K.Singh in very much the same manner as he today silently regrets his wisdom to have first spoken vociferously on issues like the J&K Accession/Merger or the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and then having overnight staged a faceless volte face on the same issues..
Please don’t forget that the semblance of peace in J&K today is very fragile and this is evident from the fact that the Chief Minister or his henchmen are scared of moving around freely in public without the cover of security guards and commandos from central forces ,added Dr Jitendra Singh.
