Debates on TV

Sir,
TV debates have become very common in these days. In the evening, almost all the news channels engage themselves in debates which are mostly political. The purpose of these debates is to give the chance to spokespersons of the different political parties to keep their views before the audience on different issues concerning public. People also come to know about the policies and programmes of different parties through their spokes persons. But very often these debates become hot and the participants take on each other by labeling allegations and counter allegations including the issues which are not even concerned with the topic of the debate. Sometimes they even use the abusive language for other participants/parties. In many cases the anchor involves himself actively in the debate and starts favoring a particular participant/party while opposing the views of the other.
This raises the question mark on the impartiality of the media. Many viewers are annoyed at this as they are sitting before TV to listen to the views of the participants of different parties and not of the anchor. Today almost all the news channels have adopted the ideology of one party or the other and they seem to be acting like a mouthpiece of a particular party. This is not a healthy sign in a democracy. The anchor is supposed to conduct the debate only and get the replies of the participants and should not interfere much in the debate so that the audience can enjoy the debate. Effort should be made to make the debate friendly and the undesired language should be avoided.
