REASI, Oct 3: District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Sushma Chuhan today convened a meeting of senior officers and members of Navratra Festival Celebration Committee to discuss arrangements for ensuing Navratra festival at Katra.
Discussing the arrangements to be made by Tourism Department and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for the event, the DDC was apprised of the events to be organized at Katra during the Navratra festival commencing from 13th October. DDC said that lakhs of devotees are likely to pay their obeisance during Navratra and all out efforts will be made for the safe, peaceful and comfortable yatra of pilgrims and conduct of Navratra festival activities.
The meeting had a discussion on security, illumination of town, construction of roads and drains, arrangements for emergency and fire services, accommodation of guests and sanitary measures etc.
She directed PWD to ensure blacktopping of road and also complete other necessary repair works well before the Navratra festival. She also directed the PHE and Power Departments to ensure proper supply in the town as well as at all the venues where celebrations will be held.
Among others the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi Shiv Kumar Gupta, Deputy CEO SMVDSB Devender Bhau and PO DRDA Dr. Jagdish Mehra.
Later, Deputy Commissioner also launched a month long sanitation drive by Municipal Committee Katra in the holy town under a comprehensive sanitation plan. Chauhan also inspected the venues of Navratra festival besides ongoing beautification and facelift works at bus stand and stadium.
