SRINAGAR, July 10: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara Khalid Jhangir, today convened a meeting of engineers of different departments to review the implementation of different schemes carried out by them for the current financial year.
The SE, EM and RE Sopore, Xen PDD Kupwara and Handwara, Xen STD sopore, Xen PDC Baramulla and field functionaries besides Chief Planning Officer were present in the meeting.
It was given out that 3 receiving stations, 239 sub stations besides 2400 transformers are functioning in the district, 76000 consumers are register with PDD, 16 villages covering 89 habitations are being electrified under DDUJY at an estimated cost of Rs1 crore. The work is expected to be completed by the end of October 2017 which will make District Kupwara fully electrified. The status in respect of R-APDRP, IPDS PMDP (Urban) were also reviewed in regard to Kupwara and Handwara towns and it was impressed up the concerned officers to take immediate steps for completing the prescribed formalities to initiate execution of these projects. An amount of Rs 51 crore is being spent in Handwara and Kupwara towns for up gradation and strengthening of power distribution system.
It was given out that 90 kilometers of roads are being black topped under cities and towns programme in Kupwara District. Seven new roads are being taken up for execution under CDF, as the tendering process had been completed.
Under PMGSY, twelve schemes are being implemented under phase 9th and twenty one schemes are being executed under phase 10th. It is expected that 6 schemes will be completed during the current year. The meeting was further informed that hostel situated in Government Degree College Handwara is nearing to completion.
