DDC Kupwara holds public contact prog, assures redressal of demands

SRINAGAR, July 31: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, held public contact programme at Zachaldara, Rajwar, in which hundreds of inhabitants belonging to Rajwar area of Handwara tehsil participated.
A number of prominent citizens, representatives of the area, numberdars, chowkidars and ex-sarpanches spoke on the occasion and highlighted the problems and demands of the general public.
During the day-long interaction, a fruitful exchange of views for the mitigating the problems and addressing the developmental needs of the inhabitants was held. The major demands raised were related to water supply, irrigation canals, improvement/ upgradation of roads, Aadhar enrolment, non-availability of play grounds, construction of public conveniences, flood protection works, repairing of well, renovation of horticulture office, construction of administrative complex, clearance of pending payments under SBM, construction of fencing wall in GHSS Zachaldara, functioning of health institutions, compensation on account of damage to horticultural produce due to hailstorms, electrification of Dogripora, etc.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC assured that prompt action for resolving the problems faced by the public will be taken. Responding to the public demands, ACD Kupwara was directed to take up construction of fencing wall in GHSS Zachaldara, horticulture office, Zachaldara, construction of play ground at Zachaldara and Sarmarg and construction of toilet units at prominent places in Zachaldara. Besides, instructions were also given to Executive Engineer PHE Handwara to take steps for completion of Upper Rajwar Water Supply Scheme and Lower Rajwar Scheme to overcome deficiency in Ahgam, Sarmarg and Hajam Mohalla, Zachaldara.
CMO Kupwara was also directed to ensure immediate resumption of duties by doctors, paramedics and driver at CHC Zachaldara. Necessary instruction for streamlining the functioning of health institutions, schools, and expediting the Aadhar enrolment process were also passed. It was assured that MIS Operation will be started within week’s time from Zachaldara.
Earlier, DDC Kupwara visited Sohipora for similar programme where public demanded that power network be renovated and irrigation facilities in the shape of bore-wells be provided.
DDC ordered on-spot improvement of HT and LT networking and assured all the necessary steps will be taken to resolve the irrigation issues as well.
