DDC initiates process for parking-lots, traffic regulation in Rajouri

RAJOURI, May 2: Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today convened a review meeting to discuss the issues related to development, socio-economic concerns and general problems faced by the people in the district.
The DC reviewed the status of essential services including health, water supply, power, ration supply apart from performance of development departments. He asked the officers to ensure presence of field officials for redressal of public grievances promptly which will be monitored by district officers. He asked the officers to conduct frequent tours, remain available at designated headquarters and review performance of subordinate offices regularly.
The departments were asked to broaden outreach to elicit public participation in initiatives launched by State Government and various flagship programmes of Central Government.
Detailed discussions were held regarding decongestion of Rajouri town which will include removal of unauthorised encroachments on roads and footpaths, shifting vendors from key crossings, creation of parking lots at various places, regulation of traffic, creation of vendor markets, construction of community hall, press club for media persons and improvement of internal roads. Expressing serious concern over poor sanitation and cleanliness in town, he directed municipal committee for improvement in waste management.
Dr Shahid directed for concerted efforts against drug menace in town and sub-urban areas and underlined stringent action to be initiated against those involved in drug peddling. He also asked the authorities to draw a roadmap for rehabilitation as well as constructive engagement of youth. Heads of educational institutions were asked to involve the youth and students in the mission against drugs right from creating awareness to association.
SSP Rajouri Suleiman Choudhary, ADDC Avtar Singh Chib, ADC Mumtaz Ali, CPO, SEs, SDMs, ExEns of all engineering departments, CMO, CEO and heads of all the departments attended the meeting.
Later, DDC along with SSP ADDC, Addl SP, CMO, CEO, EO Municipality, ARTO and other officers visited a number of sites in city to explore creation of parking facilities and regulation of traffic and other measures to decongest the town.
A detailed inspection of district hospital was also conducted which was found lacking in basic amenities and management for which a committee headed by DDC has initiated process to upgrade facilities and regulate professional management of hospital.
