CHENANI, Oct 24: The District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal inaugurated Vegetable Show-cum-Exhibition at Village Bashat, here today.
A largely attended one day Vegetable Show-cum-Exhibition was organized by Department of Agriculture Udhampur under Centrally sponsored scheme-ATMA for general awareness of farmers to harness the potential of vegetables in the district.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal was the chief guest on the occasion.
On the occasion, DDC exhorted upon them to arrange such melas and awareness programmes in other far flung areas too, for the skill development of farmers in Agriculture sector.
Earlier, by taking a glance of exhibits of different kinds of vegetable samples, DDC appreciated the endeavor of farmers for displaying their local vegetables from far off places.
About 300 farmers including women participated in the Vegetable Show-cum-Exhibition. Later, the DDC also distributed prizes among the best famers in the exhibition stalls.
Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur, R L Bhagat, in his welcome address briefed the farmers of the ongoing schemes in the department so that farmers can concentrate on economic agriculture.
Among others, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, SDM Chenani, D K Sharma, senior officers of allied departments and a large number of farmers were also present in the exhibition.
