UDHAMPUR, Sept 29: District Development Commi-ssioner Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal, inaugurated two day District level fruit show-cum-exhibition at Horticulture Complex here today.
The event was organized by Chief Horticulture Officer, C.L. Sharma under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for general awareness of farmers to harness the potential of Horticulture in the District.
On the occasion, DDC appreciated the efforts of Horticulture Department for arranging such an exhibition and also exhorted upon them to arrange such melas and awareness programmes in villages too, for the skill development of farmers in horticulture sector.
Earlier, while taking a glance of exhibits of different kinds of fruit samples, DDC appreciated the endeavor of orchardists for displaying their local fruits from far off places. Nearly 463 orchardists from different Panchayats of District Udhampur brought samples of dry and fresh fruits. A total of 504 and 215 fresh fruit samples were kept as exhibits for public in general and orchardists in particular.
Progressive orchardists Mani Ram, Rakesh Kumar , Munshi Ram and Paras Ram were awarded Ist prize in Walnut, Guava and Citrus fruits category respectively .
Among others, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, CAHO Dr K L Gupta, DIO Dr A. Hansa, District Level Specialists namely Salil Kumar Gupta, Brij Vallabh Gupta and Rajesh Dhar (DHO) Udhampur and a large number of farmers were also present during exhibition.
