DDC holds grievance redressal camp at Mendhar

POONCH, May 31: To redress public grievances, District Administration Poonch held a grievance redressal camp in Mendhar Sub-Division.
Deputy Commissioner, Nisar Ahmed Wani, Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar, Assistant Commissioner Development, Basharat Hussain along with the Executive Engineers of PDD, PWD, PHE and I&FC, other district officers, sub-divisional officers besides sarpanchs, panchs and locals in large number attended the camp.
Problems pertaining to water and power supply, availability of ration, rising crime, traffic management, restoration of roads damaged due to recent rains, clearance of liability under MGNREGA and other developmental works, besides adulteration of food stuff and sub-standard medicine and spurious drugs were vociferously raised by the people.
Responding to the demands of the people, Deputy Commissioner assured that all their genuine demands will be redressed. He took on spot decisions on some issues and passed on specific instructions to the concerned officers on others.
While speaking on the occasion, DC sought cooperation of people in efficient delivery of public services and in resolving issues of public importance. Saying that selling of spurious drugs and adulteration of food is a crime, he assured the assembly that soon flying squads will be constituted to check this evil practice in the district. He also informed them that for the purpose of the issuance of ration, the figures of 2011 census and malshumari are being adopted.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also interacted with people at Tehsil office Mankote and heard their problems. He directed Tehsildar Mankote, to immediately shift the relevant revenue record from Mendhar to new tehsil to avoid inconvenience to locals and asked the officers of PHE and PDD to ensure adequate water and power supply. Wani also visited the congested Bus Stand, Mendhar, to take stock of the problems leading to frequent traffic jams in the town.
