REASI, Jan 2: District Development Commissioner Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary convened a meeting of District Officers and all Block Level Officers of 14 line departments to review the progress achieved in devolution of powers to Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Expressing satisfaction over the initiatives taken by the departments for empowering Panchayats, the DDC called for more concerted efforts for complete transformation of democracy at grass roots level. Annual schedule of meetings and reviews was also fixed in the meeting.
All Block Level Officers of 14 departments and related project officers will attend meeting at Pouni, Reasi, Arnas and Mahore blocks respectively on 6th, 12th, 18th, and 24th of every month. District Development Commissioner will review the monthly progress and action taken reports of all the 14 departments on 27th of every month. Grievance Redressal Camps will be organised concurrently on these dates at various places.
It was impressed upon all the district officers and block level officers to personally attend the meeting. The DDC called for strict disciplinary action against absentee officials and underlined the importance accorded by the Government to strengthen panchayats. He directed the Rural Development Department to furnish list of absentee officials for disciplinary action.
Tehsildars and BDOs were directed to present a detailed resume of public grievances related to all departments during the monthly meetings. District Officers have been assigned the responsibility of monitoring the proceedings of meetings to be held at block level.
It was informed that 96 meetings on devolution of powers have been held at various levels across the district during current year. Now the administration has shifted to new system of meetings.
DFOs informed that village forest committees have been activated and involved in planning process. ExEns PHE informed that 147 committees have been activated and accounts opened. CEO and CMO presented details about performance of village level committees.
The meeting was attended by ACD Joginder Singh Rai, DFO Sayed Nadeem Hussain, DPO Rohit Saharma, XEn PHE divisions Nissar Hussain and Jagdish Chib, XEn PWD divisions Kabir Shah, Ved Angurana, T L Thapa, DFO Mahore Rafi Ahmed, and all district officers and block officers.
