REASI, June 10: Arrangements for smooth conduct of 3-day historic Agar Jitto Mela, commencing from June 22, 2013 at Agar village of Reasi district, were discussed at an officers meeting held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
The meeting had detailed discussion on various arrangements being put in place for the mela like adequate drinking water and power supply, medicare, sanitation, security, transport, accommodation, repair of road, checking of rates of essentials and parking of vehicles, etc.
The DDC directed PHE authorities to erect adequate number of public points at the mela site well in advance besides asking PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Besides, the Border Road Organization (BRO) was directed to make temporary speed breakers at both sides in the Aghar Jitto market.
The BMO Katra was asked to ensure availability of team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines round the clock during the mela days.
Similarly, the Block Development Officer, Reasi was asked to erect separate temporary toilets & bathrooms for males & females at the site of mela for convenience of pilgrims. Besides, adequate deployment of security personal enroute and around mela site would be made by district police.
The DDC directed Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Employment and other allied departments to organize awareness camps and install stalls at the venue. He asked the Assistant Director, CAPD to provide adequate ration, kerosene oil and LPG Cylinder during the Mela.
Naib tehsildar Katra, Dr. Shahid has been appointed as Mela Officer.
ASP M.S. Chouhan, CAO R.K Safaya, AD CAPD Kewal Krishan, AD Tourism Vinakshi Koul, BDO, Tina Mahajan, Tehsildar Gopal Singh, District Information Officer, Reasi Parvinder Kour, ARTO Shammi and district heads of various departments and prominent persons from Agar were present in the meeting.
