Agri Deptt to provide financial support

JAMMU, Sept 19: The Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Jammu today organized two days seminar cum awareness programme on ‘Transformation of Bee-Keeping’, under National Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) at Kissan Kendra Jammu with the aim to deliberate the importance of beekeeping and to achieve the goals of ‘Sweet Revolution’.
The programme was inaugurated by the District Development Council (DDC) Jammu Chairman Bharat Bhushan and was attended by officers of Agri- allied departments, experts from SKUAST, KVK, Information, Banks, and other officers, besides farmers, beekeepers and unemployed youth.Besides Director Agriculture Jammu K.K.Sharma, Joint Director ext H. K. Hiteshi, Joint Director Inputs S. A.S. Reen,Joint Dir Marketing Sh. Mahesh Verma, CAO Jammu Vinod Kundal, DAO Jammu Ashu Kakoria and District SMS, SDAOs and AEAs were present.
The DDC Chairman stressed that the department is providing financial support under National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) and Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) for taking apiculture ventures, both for livelihood /income generation as well as for ecological balance.
He asked farmers to make efforts for cultivating good quality honey, on a massive scale so as to capitalize the rising demand.
Speaking on the occasion, CAO Jammu Vinod Kundal asked the farmers to take maximum benefit under the programme by getting training and awareness of different Government schemes to establish their income generating units under the Apiculture sector.
