JAMMU, Jan 16: The Department of Cooperative Banking Supervision (DCBS), RBI, Jammu conducted the 22nd meeting of the Task Force on Co-operative Urban Banks (TAFCUB) for the State of Jammu and Kashmir in the Conference Hall of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), here today.
Thomas Mathew, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Jammu and Kashmir, presided over the meeting. Surjeet Singh, Additional Secretary, Co-operative Department, J&K Government; Sandish Gupta, Joint Registrar (Banking & Finance), J&K Government; Subhash Gupta, Chief Executive, NAFCUB; MD / CEOs of the all the four UCBs namely The Citizens Cooperative Bank Ltd. (CCBL), Jammu, Devika Urban Cooperative Bank Ltd (DUCBL), Udhampur, Urban Cooperative Bank Ltd (UCBL), Anantnag and Kashmir Mercantile Cooperative Bank Ltd., Sopore along with officers of RBI, DCBS, Central Office and Jammu Regional Office participated in the meeting.
The financial performance of the four UCBs was reviewed in the meeting, besides discussing other important issues including the bank specific regulatory and managerial issues.
Thomas Mathew, Regional Director, during his welcome address highlighted the importance of co-operative banking and the role played by the TAFCUB in addressing the issues of the sector.
Sandish Gupta apprised the house that an Administrator has been appointed in DUCBL, Udhampur for conduct of fresh elections, while Subhash Gupta highlighted the importance of UCBs in present day banking scenario.
The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks presented by AB Dutta, DGM, RBI.
