JAMMU, Feb 16: Police today registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Pandurang K Pole, an IAS officer for his involvement in registration of 206 kanals 13 marlas land in favour of a New Delhi firm, which was constructing a hotel and resort near Katra town in Reasi district.
Mr Pole has become third incumbent Deputy Commissioner in the State against whom the FIR has been registered.
SSP Reasi Raghubir Singh confirmed that FIR No. 13/2013 has been registered against Mr Pole and Naib Tehsildar, Reasi Sher Singh Thappa on the directions of the Vigilance Court and the matter was under investigation.
He said the Vigilance Court had directed Reasi police to lodge the FIR against former Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Pandurang K Police and Naib Tehsildar Sher Singh Thappa for doing registration of 206 kanals 13 marlas land in favour of a New Delhi businessman.
The businessman was constructing Nav Shri Jan Hotel and Resorts at Sool near Katra town, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
The FIR No. 13/2013 has been registered under Sections 5 (2) Prevention of Corruption Act and 120-B RPC at Reasi police station by name against Mr Pole and Mr Thappa.
Sources said the Deputy Commissioner had directly marked documents to the Naib Tehsildar ignoring the Revenue officers between them. Such a lengthy process of registration of 206 kanals 13 marlas land in favour of New Delhi party was completed within 20 to 25 days. The Naib Tehsildar has reported back to the Deputy Commissioner within 5 days.
The registration had been done on the name of Nav Shri Jan Hotel and Resorts through Sanjeev Khajuria son of Hari Ram, a resident of Udhampur, presently putting up in New Delhi.
Sources said a total of 236 kanals land existed at village Sool in the shape of a Nallah. Of this, 206 kanals land was shown as agriculture land and 30 kanals as Nallah. They added that one Anudhan Singh son of Kamal Nain Singh, a resident of Barnai, Jammu was complainant in the case.
Of 236 kanals land, 206 kanals 13 marlas was shown in favour of Gian Singh, Shivraj and Baldev Singh and registry done in favour of New Delhi firm.
Police have started investigations in the case.
