DC Samba tours flood prone areas

SAMBA, June 6: District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda today toured flood prone border areas to take stock of necessary flood protection measures taken by the concerned department ahead of rainy season.
The DC was accompanied by Executive Engineer Flood Control Jagdish Raj, Tehsildar Vijaypur Iqbal Singh, Tehsildar Ramgarh Jai Kumar Sharma and other officials. The officials visited Tarapur, Ratanpur, Kamore Forward, Bhalad Gate, Kamore Village and Kamore Camp.
The local nallahs, have large catchment area and due to rains and subsequent heavy discharge, often cause floods. The floods in these areas in the past have caused erosion of the land of villagers and loss to the public and private property. The officials inspected various vulnerable spots in these locations for necessary flood protection measures. The DDC directed the officials to keep a close watch on the rivers/nallahs during the monsoon.
She asked them to flash reports and solve the problems arising from flood fury, if any in close coordination with Flood Sub Committee constituted as per Anti-Flood Measure Plan. On the occasion, the local villagers also interacted with DDC and gave their suggestions to mitigate the problem.
