SAMBA, Jan 12: Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta along with Ajay Gandotra, president J&K Dharmarth Trust and secretary, Dr Gopal Parthasarthi Sharma today conducted a joint inspection at famous Purmandal Shrine to augment the facilities for visiting pilgrims.
The Trust’s president held a threadbare discussion on various aspects of developing the aforesaid shrines on modern lines to provide state-of-art facilities to the devotees and the tourists visiting the site as the place has immense religious and historical significance. He urged the Deputy Commissioner to take proactive steps in making these shrines visitors delight because the same are connected with the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Gandotra said that Purmandal has a great historic importance and a large number of devotees’ visits this holy place throughout the year. He emphasized that immediate facelift of this revered Shrine is the need of the hour as this could help in boosting the religious tourism in the region.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner performed Special Pooja in the holy Sanctum and sought blessings of Bhagwan Shiva.
The Deputy Commissioner took a round of the temple complex and reviewed the facilities being provided to visitors. She gave strict instructions to the authorities concerned for improving cleanliness and sanitation facilities. Besides, she also issued several instructions for the welfare of the temple complex.
The Deputy Commissioner also raised serious concern over the encroachment of Trust’s properties and directed the authorities concerned to provide latest and updated land record pertaining to Dharmarth Trust.
Ajay Gandotra urged the Deputy Commissioner to take adequate steps in upgrading the public utilities for the welfare of visiting regular devotees on several occasions throughout the year.
Highlighting the importance of Purmandal, Gandotra apprised the Deputy Commissioner that this revered Shrine is located on the banks of the river Devika which is prominently known as the Gupt Ganga and every possible step is needed to restore its glory.
Among those who were present include SDM Vijaypur, tehsildar Bari Brahmana, Chairman Mansar Surinsar Development Authority, Manager Pujari Rajinder Shastri, Local Assistant Manager, Dharmarth Trust, officials of PWD, PDD and locals inhabitants.
