JAMMU, Oct 21: Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for Gurupurab (Parkash Utsav) of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji being celebrated on November 4.
Deputy Commissioner also discussed arrangements for Nagar Kirtan to be taken out on November 1. It was informed that Nagar Kirtan will start at 9 am and after passing through different bazaars, it would culminate at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh, Guru Nanak Nagar at around 5 pm.
Deputy Commissioner asked the senior functionaries of various departments to work in close coordination and synergy to put in place requisite arrangements for smooth celebration of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary.
Threadbare discussions were held on important issues including regulation of traffic during Nagar Kirtan, security arrangements, deployment of medical teams equipped with ambulances, repairs and restoration of roads etc.
The DC directed the Municipal authorities to ensure cleanliness in the city and around Gurudwaras. The PHE Department was asked to make provision for uninterrupted water supply with an additional water tanker at the venue. PDD was asked to provide uninterrupted power supply.
Specific directions were issued to Fire Services, Health Department, Police authorities regarding deployment of fire tenders, ambulances & medical staff, security and traffic arrangements for smooth celebrations.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu Arun Manhas, SSP Security Ashok Sharma, SSP Traffic Nisha Nathyal, SDM South Jammu Sonu Pargal, other senior officers of police and district administration besides representatives of religious organisations.
