JAMMU, Sept 13: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for Navratras and Muharram.
While taking a review of the arrangements for Charri yatra to be taken out on the first day of the Navratras Deputy Commissi-oner directed the concerned for making adequate security arrangements while PHE was asked to ensure barricading at the venue in time.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation was directed to ensure sanitation and health authorities were asked to ensure proper medicare and stationing of ambulances with requisite staff at identified spots.
The officers of PDD and PHE were instructed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply and also concerned were asked to take up repair of defunct street lights immediately.
Later, the Deputy Commis-sioner also reviewed the arrangements for Muharram.
The DC held a detailed discussion for the arrangements to be put in place for the observance of Ashura. He directed the concerned officers to ensure availability of water tankers especially at places of mass gatherings besides making proper provisions for medical aid.
To ensure cleanliness and hygiene, the DC directed JMC to take adequate steps. He further instructed for putting in place proper provisions for security, traffic management and better coordination among departments for ensuring better facilities to the devotees.
The Deputy Commissioner asked SSP Traffic to formulate an effective traffic management plan to ensure hassle-free movement of religious processions in and around the city and during the Navratras and Muharram. He also discussed arrangements enroute for the smooth conduct of the procession particularly traffic regulation and security.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta, Additional Deputy Commis-sioner, Arun Manhas, SSP Traffic, Nisha Natyal, Assistant Commissioner, Sachin Jamwal, officers of the concerned departments and representatives of various religious organizations attended the meeting.
