POONCH, July 24: Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav today visited Dashnami Aakhara to review the arrangements put in place for Budha Amarnath Yatra. He was accompanied by CEO Municipality, Xen PHE, Xen PDD, AEE PWD and other concerned officers.
The team of officers met with the Chairman and members of Dashnami Aakhara Trust to know about the status of preparation being made till date. Pertinently, Dashnami Aakhara Poonch serves as the Base Camp for Yatris who arrive here from across the country to pay obeisance at the Shrine of Baba Budha Amarnath situated thirty kilometres away from Poonch town.
During the meeting, the DDC asked the concerned to install solar lights so that the devotees coming late in the evening shall not face inconvenience. He took a detailed review of preparations made by the concerned departments at various sites of Dashnami Aakhara including lighting facilities, toilets, accommodation, medicare, sanitation, transportation, traffic management and others.
Later, the DDC visited GDC Poonch, Boys Hr. Sec. School where arrangements for the accommodation of pilgrims are to be made. He gave on spot direction for starting whitewash and other face-lifting work at the twin accommodations before yatra. The Xen PDD and Xen PHE were directed to ensure supply of power and water during yatra, while CEO Municipality was asked to launch a cleanliness drive.
