RAJOURI, Feb 15: Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, on Wednesday visited Government Higher Secondary School Bajabain to inspect the Maharaja Hari Singh tailoring cum counselling centre established in the school for imparting skill to girl students.
During the visit, the DC complimented the school authorities for providing such a valuable opportunity to the students.
The DC was briefed that the girl students at the school were being trained to stitch cloth bags as a part of the initiative to say no to single-use plastic and on the theme ‘Mera thela Meri Pechan’. The tailoring cum counsellor centre was established to provide skill development opportunities and counseling to the girl students and help them become self-reliant.
The DC appreciated the efforts of the school authorities in providing such skill development opportunities to the girl students. He emphasised the importance of promoting sustainable practices and reducing the use of plastic bags, and stated that the efforts of the school in this regard were praiseworthy.
He also interacted with the girl students who were involved in stitching the cloth bags and encouraged them to continue with their efforts. He assured them of his support and cooperation in their future endeavours.
The initiative taken by the Government Higher Secondary School Bajabain to provide skill development opportunities to the girl students is a commendable effort towards building a sustainable and self-reliant community.
