Long pending demand of Poonch city fulfilled

Poonch, Apr 9: In a bid to reach out to the people, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Inder Jeet conducted a day long grievances redressal camp at Dak Bungalow Mendhar.
The proceeding of the camp started with a plethora of grievances and demands put forth by different Panchayats through their representatives including both the District Development Council members, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanches and prominent citizens .
The grievances highlighted from Tehsil Mendhar mainly focused on illegal encroachment of University land at Village Kalaban, water scarcity, unscheduled power cuts, disparity in MGNREGA plan allocation, arbitrary cuts in funds allocated to Sarpanches for DDC and BDC members and non availability of funds for Agriculture and Horticulture Department.
From Balakote Block similar voices were echoed. However, the priority issue projected in the camp was the construction of remaining bunkers along all the sensitive points of border. Liability on account of construction of already constructed bunkers was also brought into the notice of Deputy Commissioner for early redressal.
The highlight of the demands from block Mankote included poor infrastructure, water scarcity, irregularities in PDS registration among others. Other than this, various issues of utmost public importance also caught the attention of the Deputy Commissioner, like illegal encroachment of bus stand Mendhar, involvement of PRIs representatives in plan formulation, procurement of poles for establishing a robust power infrastructure , inclusion of old age and widows for pension, 100 days employment to all the job card holders, funds for balance work of Mini Secretariat Mendhar, identification of land for Eidgah and graveyard in Mendhar town, deletion of undeserving ration card holder from BPL list and protecting the rights of forest dwellers etc.
Deputy Commissioner gave patient hearing to the general public and different deputations and issued instructions for redressal of grievences.
Meanwhile, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, a team of administration completed the earthwork of an alternate road connecting Poonch Hospital with the rest of city. Tehsildar Haveli Anjum Khattak headed the operation along with AEE PWD, Naib Tehsildar Haveli Khurshid Tantray, Naib Tehsildar Gulpur Rashid Chowhan and in full cooperation of officials from PWD, Police and Municipal Council Poonch.
As the clearance of road included removal of various structures that too in the heart of the city, sensing the gravity of the operation, the whole process was thoroughly monitored by the Deputy Commissioner himself along with Assistant Commissioner Revenue Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi.
