JAMMU, July 15: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa today conducted an extensive tour of Akhnoor to get first-hand account of the public grievances.
During the visit, scores of individuals apprised her about the problems being faced by them in day to day life.
The people highlighted the issues regarding their respective Panchayats which were mainly related to irregular supply of water and electricity, Revenue services, land compensation, issuance of ration cards, PMAY benefits, Road connectivity, drinking water availability, installation of hand pumps, opening of health centres etc.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing and passed on the spot directions to the concerned officers for early redressal of their genuine grievances.
She assured that the highlighted issues of public importance would be taken up with higher authorities, while the pendency and public service delivery slackness shall be reviewed thoroughly.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the progress of work on Mini Secretariat at Akhnoor. During inspection, the DC instructed the officers from the executing agency to complete the work within the stipulated time frame.
Acting upon the complaints of locals, the Deputy Commissioner also visited the site of land encroachment and directed the concerned to retrieve the land as soon as possible.
She directed the officers to leave no stone unturned to provide maximum benefits of welfare schemes to the people.
The Deputy Commissioner also impressed upon the officers to work with zeal to achieve the targets and ensure the delivery of the benefits to the rural masses.
