DC Leh inaugurates 6-day workshop on women’s hygiene

LEH, Apr 10: Deputy Commissioner Leh, Avny Lavasa inaugurated a six-day workshop on ‘sex education and menstrual hygiene’ here today.
The workshop is being organized by Education Department, Leh. Around 40 lecturers and teachers have been selected to participate in the workshop.
The inaugural function was attended by Joint Director Education, Ladakh Tashi Dolma, Principal DIET Leh, CEO Leh, ZEOs and resource persons from all the zones of Leh district.
Speaking on the occasion, DC stressed on the role and responsibility of both males and females in addressing the issues related to sexual development. She said it’s important to timely inform and make teenagers aware on sex education. She expressed hope that such training on sex education will continue and prove beneficial in long run.
She urged the selected resource persons to ensure their full involvement in the training and implement it with zeal and passion.
Other speakers stressed upon the need to fight the social taboo related to sex and impart informed knowledge to children at right time and at right age to make them aware of child abuse and sexual consequences.
